Georgia Hits Record Labor Force and Employment in July as Unemployment Eases to 3.3%
The Georgia Department of Labor reported all-time highs for both the labor force and employment in July, with health care leading job gains.

Georgia's job market reached new records in July, according to figures released by the Georgia Department of Labor on August 20.
The Numbers
The state's labor force climbed to an all-time high of 5,480,790, and employment reached 5,301,774, also a record. The unemployment rate declined to 3.3%, which is 0.8 percentage points below the national rate.
Where Jobs Were Added and Lost
Health care and social assistance posted the largest monthly gain (1,600 jobs), followed by construction (1,100), information (800), durable goods manufacturing (700) and private educational services (600). Local government (2,000), administrative and support services (1,900), accommodation and food services (1,600), professional and technical services (1,500) and non-durable goods manufacturing (1,300) lost the most jobs over the month.
Over the past year, health care and social assistance added 20,700 jobs, far more than any other sector, with durable goods manufacturing adding 2,900 and private educational services 1,900.
What Officials Said
Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes said Georgians are "working at the highest levels of employment and labor force participation in our state's history," adding that the record "is not a finish line; it is a responsibility to make sure every Georgian has the opportunity to get ahead."
