Morehouse College announced an expansion of its leadership and business program this month, adding an executive mentorship track that pairs students directly with Atlanta business leaders for semester-long mentoring relationships.

The mentorship track matches students with executives across industries including finance, logistics, and healthcare, with mentors committing to monthly meetings and at least one on-site company visit per semester. Program administrators say the initiative builds on Morehouse's longstanding reputation for producing business and civic leaders, formalizing informal alumni networking that had previously happened on an ad hoc basis.

"Morehouse men have been getting informal mentorship from alumni for generations, but it's always depended on who happened to know whom," said the program's director. "We wanted to build a structure so that every student in the program gets that kind of access, not just the ones with existing connections."

The expanded program has recruited 40 mentors for its inaugural cohort, drawn heavily from Morehouse's alumni network in Metro Atlanta's business community. College officials say early feedback from both students and mentors has been strong enough to justify doubling the mentor pool next year.

The business program has also added a new venture capital elective taught by a visiting Atlanta investor, reflecting growing student interest in startup and investment careers.
