Walmart Plans $1.3 Billion Fulfillment Center in Carnesville, Bringing 1,000 Jobs to Franklin County
Gov. Kemp announced the 1.5 million-square-foot automated facility at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center, with construction expected to begin in late 2026.

Gov. Brian Kemp announced on August 27 that Walmart plans to build a next-generation fulfillment center in Carnesville, a $1.3 billion investment expected to create 1,000 jobs in Franklin County.
The Project
The highly automated, 1.5 million-square-foot facility will sit at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center, about 85 miles northeast of Atlanta. It will join Walmart's network of fulfillment centers built to speed online orders to customers, including same-day and next-day shipping. Construction is expected to begin in late 2026. Details on pay and hiring timelines were not provided in the announcement.
Why It Matters for Rural Georgia
Kemp made the announcement during an economic development mission in South America. He said the investment "will not only create new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Georgians, it will also allow them to work close to home rather than commuting to a larger city," and that every Georgian should have opportunity "no matter their zip code."
