Marcus Dunbar's Savannah-based logistics company, Coastal Freight Partners, is adding three new warehouse fulfillment facilities across the Savannah region this year, expanding a business Dunbar started with a single leased truck fifteen years ago into a regional logistics operation with over 380 employees.

Dunbar launched the company as a small freight hauling operation before pivoting toward e-commerce fulfillment as import volume through the Port of Savannah grew. The company now manages inventory and shipping for dozens of mid-sized e-commerce brands that lack the scale to build their own fulfillment infrastructure near the port.

"I started this company with one truck and a phone number, driving routes myself most nights," Dunbar said. "Every facility we've added since then has come from the same instinct — figure out where demand is heading before your competitors do, and get there first, even if it means taking on real financial risk."

The new facilities will add roughly 550,000 square feet of warehouse space near the port, positioning the company to compete for larger fulfillment contracts that require broader regional coverage. Dunbar says the expansion was driven directly by client demand, noting that Coastal Freight Partners turned away several large fulfillment contracts last year due to insufficient capacity.

The company's growth mirrors a broader logistics boom around Savannah, where the port's continued cargo volume growth has made the region increasingly attractive for e-commerce fulfillment operations.
